Acrylic fiber is the trade name of polyacrylonitrile fiber in China, and it is called "Ao Lun" and "Cashmere LUN" abroad. Usually refers to more than 85% acrylonitrile and the second and third monomer copolymer, by wet spinning or dry spinning synthetic fiber.

Spinning liquid is generally polyacrylonitrile polymerization, the number of average molecular weight of 5300 0~106000, its fiber whiteness is good, thermal decomposition temperature 200~2 50℃, melting point up to 320℃. Therefore, polyacrylonitrile fibers are prepared by wet spinning and dry spinning in polymer solution. The spinning liquid concentration of dry spinning is 25% ~ 30%, the spinning speed is fast, but because of the spinneret spout small flow of slow curing, easy bonding before curing, can not use spinneret with more holes, spinning solvent only dimethylformamide one, the fiber structure is uniform and dense suitable for weaving silk fabrics. Wet spinning is suitable for making short fiber, fiber fluffy and soft, suitable for weaving wool-like fabric, the spinning solvent used in addition to solvent solution polymerization, there are dimethyl acetamide, vinyl carbonate, nitric acid, most of the solvent boiling point is high, not easy to steam in the spinning process. In the 1980s, the melt spinning method of polyacrylonitrile fiber was studied. Water was used as the plasticizer of polymerization, without preparation of polymer stock solution, without solvent recovery and circulation system. The physical properties of the fiber were basically the same as those of dry or wet spinning, and it has now entered the intermediate test stage.
